Hon. (Chief). Josephine Nzeogu-Agukwe
Vice Chairman, NIDO UK Chapter
Biography
My name is Josephine Nzeogu-Agukwe, and I am the Vice Chair of the NIDO UK Chapter. I am a Senior Forensic Mental Health Nurse by profession, currently working with the National Health Service (NHS). My journey with NIDO has been one of passion, dedication, and a deep commitment to making a difference in the lives of Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora.
I previously served as a Project Director in the defunct NIDO UKS chapter, where I actively supported Diaspora Week in Nigeria, focusing on homeland development. This role was incredibly fulfilling, as it allowed me to contribute to initiatives that directly impacted communities in Nigeria. During my tenure, I worked tirelessly to organize health seminars, healthcare outreaches, and workshops, including the distribution of blood pressure machines across various states and communities in Nigeria.
One of my proudest achievements has been the successful fundraising efforts I led, which enabled us to embark on impactful projects such as sinking boreholes in underserved communities and supporting orphanages and motherless baby homes. These initiatives have made a tangible difference in the lives of many, and I am proud to have played a part in them.
Currently, as the Vice Chairperson of the NIDO UK Chapter, I work closely with the Project Director, Hon. Edith Nwachukwu, to continue driving initiatives that foster diaspora engagement and community development. My life's mission is to make the world a better place for everyone, and I am deeply committed to this cause.
I have also been actively involved in planning and managing the Annual General Meetings (AGMs), both virtual and physical. These events have provided me with the opportunity to visit many countries in Europe, experiences I cherish deeply. It is worth noting that all my trips and contributions have been self-sponsored, a testament to my dedication and the sacrifices I am willing to make for the betterment of Nigeria.
The end of each year is marked by our well-attended end-of-year parties, where members come together to celebrate and reflect on our achievements. These gatherings are a testament to the strong sense of community and camaraderie within NIDO.
None of these achievements would have been possible without the support and collaboration of my colleagues, particularly our current NIDO Europe Continental Chairman, Hon. Cllr Harold Ogunfemi, who served as the Deputy Chair of the Project Committee during my tenure. Together, we have made significant strides, and I am excited to continue this journey with the NIDO UK Chapter.
